Enabling a care affected young women to participate in one of our therapeutic programmes will help to equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to recover from past traumas, avoid challenging situations in the future, and break intergenerational cycles.

Enhancing the socio-economic mobility of young women means that they too can contribute to their communities and the wider society.

Sister System is innovative and pioneering. No programme currently exists within Greater London that provides frontline and peer support to girls affected by care. Without Sister System, these girls and young women girls will remain on the fringes of society unable to fulfil their potential. The challenges they face often both severely limit their life chances but also become inter-generational hindrances - cascading and entrenching barriers to fulfilment across successive generations.
As a charity we are largely financially dependent on grant making bodies to deliver our life-changing work to vulnerable girls across London. With your help we can offer a sustainable service and continue to meet the urgent and growing need. We are working to change the hearts and minds of people, communities and government in relation to how we support children affected by being in looked-after care.

Our mission is to demonstrate that we need to change how we work with care-affected children, and in so doing change the hearts and minds of local authorities and other services to provide the support these girls desperately need to improve their life chances. We aim to demonstrate what a better model of support should look like, show that early intervention offers better life outcomes for these young girls and as a result reduces the support required for the same girls as they become adults.
